O London Eye vai tornar-se no "Coca-Cola Eye" ?

"Londoners are divided over the rebranding of the London Eye in a sponsorship deal with Coca-Cola.

The 443ft wheel on the capital's South Bank was lit up red this weekend as part of a two-year deal with the soft drinks company, which was announced in September for an undisclosed sum.

Previous sponsors of the Eye - London's most popular tourist attraction - include British Airways and most recently, EDF energy.

Health campaigners handed out toothbrushes next to the wheel on Saturday to protest against the new deal.

They claim Coca-Cola's sponsorship sends out the wrong message to children and their parents about healthy lifestyles.

But south London MP Tessa Jowell appeared to defend the sponsorship, claiming it did not amount to a complete rebrand.

She said: "It is the London Eye, not the Coca-Cola Eye - just as it's the Olympic Games, not the Coca-Cola Olympics."

On Twitter, some people suggested Coca-Cola could not be blamed for promoting fizzy drinks and that parents were responsible for controlling their children's diets.

One person said: "The London eye is red as coke now sponsors & bored mums are outraged as it may make kids buy coke... You're the mum! It's in your hands."
